NZ Shelters was founded in the early 2000s by Chris and Sheree Abraham, who designed an aluminium bus shelter that councils across New Zealand quickly made their own. Robust, practical, and built to last, it became the quiet backbone of public spaces from Northland to Southland. In 2026, the Abrahams sold the business to the Cottle family. The vision was simple: keep what works, and build on it.
Chris's original design remains the foundation of everything we deliver, whilst being continuously refined. Alongside it, we're developing new products to better serve councils and commercial customers across New Zealand's public infrastructure and shelter markets. We're a family business, and that matters. We return calls. We show up when we say we will. We care about the outcome because our name is on every shelter we install. That's not going to change.
